FIRST LOOK....'ADDAMS FAMILY' PHOTOS!

THE ADDAMS FAMILY is alive and well, living the life of luxury in their humorously gloomy atmospheric musical comedy now through Nov. 2 at The Media Theatre.

If you are not familiar with the macabre clan, they're the creation of Charles Addams, the brilliant cartoonist who based (through exaggeration of his own families eccentricities) them on a few of his own relatives. They spawned a legendary '60's sitcom, several major motion pictures, and now this hit Broadway musical. The show has its regional Philly professional premiere at Media, with an all-star Philadelphia cast featuring Jeff Coon as Gomez and Jennie Eisenhower as Morticia.

Media Theatre News has first pics of the first public performance for your eyes only! Check 'em out...

WHO'S WHO IN 'THE ADDAMS FAMILY'....JD TRIOLO AND ANDREW RUBIN ARE TWO PUGSLEYS

Broadway’s hit musical comedy, “The Addams Family,” makes its Philadelphia regional professional premiere Sept. 24-Nov. 2 at the Media Theatre.
Produced by Media Music Theatre Company, the show is based on Charles Addams’ single-panel comic strip from which the legendary 1960s TV sitcom was created.
In “The Addams Family” musical, created by Marshall Brickman & Rick Elice and Andrew Lippa, the humorously bizarre family that delights in the macabre must come to terms with 18-year-old Wednesday’s infatuation with a young man from a family quite unlike their own. Even though we see the Addams’ singing ghoulish ancestors in the show, The Chicago Sun-Times said “The Addams Family” has “an abundance of life.”
Two talented young actors share the role of Pugsley Addams in Media's production. Pugsley is the younger brother of teen Wednesday and he just loves to be noticed by her...so what will he do when she places all of her attention on a young man from a 'normal' family?
The two who share the role are JD Triolo of West Chester and Media's Andrew Rubin.

JD TRIOLO has been seen by Media Theatre audiences quite a bit in the past several years. A member of its acting classes, New School, and private coaching, JD started showcasing his powerful vocals on stage in "Jekyll and Hyde: The Musical". He went on to appear as Young Mowgli in "The Jungle Book" a bit later. Soon, the actor/ singer had a great boost to his career when he portrayed Young Patrick in "Mame" alongside Tony nominated actress Andrea McArdle.
At The Walnut Street Theatre he played the role of Michael Hobbs in the regional premiere of "Elf: The Musical". Now, he brings another iconic role to life in yet another Philly premiere in "The Addams Family".
ANDREW RUBIN
ANDREW RUBIN has his Media Theatre debut in "The Addams Family". He's been in several local productions, works with voice coach Val Haber, and will start lessons with Media Theatre's Artistic Director Jesse Cline this season as a member of The New School.
Do you want to know who's playing Pugsley on certain dates? Call The Media Theatre for information: 610-891-0100. Visit www.mediatheatre.org for tickets.

ANNIE JR SNEAK PEEK VIDEO: "IT'S A HARD KNOCK LIFE"

It's A Hard Knock Life!

That's one of the most familiar tunes Broadway ever created thanks to the hit musical "Annie". The appeal of the song, performed by orphans as they joyfully and assertively sing about the awful predicament they are in, reaches across demographic boundaries as all ages are able to feel the universal statement the song is making.

Audiences at The Media Theatre will be able to see the famous number as well as other familiar tunes being performed when they see "ANNIE JR" this fall. The one-hour condensed version of the iconic musical with music by Martin Charnin, lyrics from Charles Strouse, and a book by Thomas Meehan is on Saturday mornings at 11am and Sundays at Noon from October 4 to December 28.

All of the principle characters from the show are in "ANNIE JR" including those hopeful orphans, Miss Hannigan, Daddy Warbucks, Grace, and--of course--the red-haired little girl and her dog Sandy. In this version, it's even more fun for youth audiences as Sandy is played by a child actor!

Here's a Sneak Peek at "ANNIE JR" at The Media Theatre, with video shot during the very first music with dance rehearsal:

WHO'S WHO IN 'THE ADDAMS FAMILY'...KRISTINE FRAELICH IS ALICE

Philadelphia based actress KRISTINE FRAELICH plays the role of Alice in the musical comedy. While not one of the Addams' clan, Alice is vital to the production as a member of the Beineke family who hail from the Midwest.
Kristine Fraelich, who plays Alice Beineke in "The Addams Family"

The Beineke's are not a creation of Charles Addams, nor were they ever in the tv sitcom. Created specifically for the Broadway musical, they meet the Addams Family when Wednesday Addams becomes infatuated with their son, Lucas. Alice, the mom, spouts random poems and is a bit kooky in her own way. This made way for part of the marketing for "The Addams Family" musical, which used the term 'Define Normal' in part of its campaign. While the Addams' are certainly eccentric, the Beineke's could be considered a bit odd as well.
KRISTINE FRAELICH was seen on Broadway in the original cast of "The Civil War" and performed as The Narrator in the 1st National Tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat". She had the privilege of working directly with Tony winning composer Jason Robert Brown in his "Songs For A New World" at Symphony Space in NYC.
She's been seen at The Walnut Street Theatre as Emily in "Elf" and Eva Peron in "Evita" as well as at The Arden as Diane in "Next To Normal", Nurse Betty in "Baby Case", and as Dot/ Marie in "Sunday In The Park With George".

To see Kristine Fraelich and the rest of the Philadelphia All-Star cast in The Media Theatre's "The Addams Family", call 610-891-0100 or visit mediatheatre.org. "The Addams Family" is a regional professional premiere with The Media being Philly's first Union house to design and direct the show from the 'ground up'. Dann Dunn directs and choreographs.

ANDREA MCARDLE TO STAR IN 'HELLO DOLLY!' AT THE MEDIA THEATRE IN SPRING OF 2015

Hello, Andrea! That’s what audiences will be saying with much enthusiasm when Broadway’s legendary star Andrea McArdle returns to The Media Theatre as the iconic Dolly Levi in “Hello Dolly” in spring 2015. McArdle, who wowed audiences and theatre critics alike with her memorable performance as “Mame” in 2013, will take on her second Jerry Herman musical in Media April 22-May 24.
The Media Theatre’s production of “Mame” went on to win 10 Broadway World Awards for Best of Philadelphia Theatre including a win for McArdle as Best Actress In A Musical. The show transferred to the renowned Bucks County Playhouse following its run in Media.

“Our audiences adore Andrea,” said The Media Theatre’s Artistic Director Jesse Cline. “She gives 110% on stage and highlights whatever she does with true passion, honesty, and heart. We are thrilled to have her return to bring “Hello Dolly” to life once again.”
Andrea McArdle was Broadway’s youngest Tony-nominated actress when she portrayed the starring role in the original production of “Annie” in 1977. Since then, she has appeared in several Broadway shows including “Jerry’s Girls” with Carol Channing and the original casts of “Les Miserables” and “Starlight Express”. She also played the role of Belle in Disney’s Broadway smash “Beauty and the Beast” and Sally Bowles in the U.S. and international tours of the Tony Award-winning revival of “Cabaret”. She recently won acclaim for her recent performance at 54 Below in NYC and her latest CD release, “70’s and Sunny”.
“Hello Dolly” is based on Thornton Wilder’s “The Merchant of Yonkers” (later revised to “The Matchmaker”). The musical won 10 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, and Best Score. It’s one of the classic ‘star-turn’ musicals as the focus is on sassy and brassy Dolly Levi who travels to Yonkers searching for Horace Vandergelder. She stirs up the lives of her niece and two store clerks as she manipulates the proceedings. Songs include the classics “Before The Parade Passes By”, “It Takes A Woman”, “Put On Your Sunday Clothes”, “It Only Takes A Moment”, and the familiar trumpet-laced title tune.

To see Andrea McArdle starring in “Hello Dolly”, visit www.mediatheatre.org for tickets or call 610-891-0100. Group rates are available (groups are currently booking, so the best bet is to call soon and ask for Roger).
