20 YEARS, OVER 20 'BEST OF' AWARDS, AND MORE TO COME AT THE MEDIA THEATRE!

In the Greater Philadelphia/ Wilmington region, one professional music theatre company continues to brighten the theatrical landscape after twenty years.

With its various honors and awards from over 20 local and national media outlets and organizations, The Media Theatre inspires and delights audiences who give standing ovations in appreciation of such acclaimed productions as "Show Boat", "The Sound of Music", "Rent", "The Who's Tommy", and "Chicago".

Since 1994, when the magnificent first live musical presentation "My Fair Lady" opened its grand curtain to a sold out audience on opening night (under the auspices of Rockwell Productions at the time), thousands of patrons have entered the classic red doors to enjoy memorable performances by renowned actors and actresses such as Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Jason Daniely, Andy Karl, David Miller, Justin Guarini, Kyle Lowder, Emmy winner Wanda Sykes, Tony winners Betty Buckley and Judy Kaye and Tony nominees Philip Boykin, Ann Crumb, and Andrea McArdle.

Not simply a beautiful structure steeped in history, The Media Theatre is now known worldwide as the home of The Media Music Theatre Company, created by the visionary artistic direction of Mr. Jesse Cline. Cline and his staff of creative designers and directors have been awarded over 20 "Best Of" honors in the past 20 years, from prestigious media outlets such as Broadway World, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The New York Daily News, Main Line Today Magazine, DelcoNewsNetwork, and the Delaware County Daily Times.

Recently, the Media Theatre was recognized with an official proclamation by Delaware County Council for its cultural and economic impact on the region. The United States Congress honored the work of the State Street Miracles, the Media Theatre's intellectually challenged performance troupe, who have performed everywhere from the US Senate Rotunda to the Pennsylvania State Senate Chamber in Harrisburg as ambassadors for Media Music Theatre Company.

Cline developed the Media Music Theatre Company's mission statement, which is seen proudly in the theatre's lobby: The mission of the Media Theatre is to promote and nurture the imagination, diversity, and joy unique to music theatre by the production of new and classic works; to herald music theatre to young people as an art form that is relevant to their lives, and to foster an understanding by them that it is indigenous to their cultural history and reflective of our country's heritage.

As its main focus, Cline created, developed, and then strengthened its Broadway Series which brings professional, New York and local talent to our stage. Each production is accompanied by a full orchestra, heightening the experience and broadening the depth of each classic and new musical as it is brought  to life on stage.

A driving part of the mission of the Media Theatre is to educate and inspire young children in the American Tradition of the Musical. Since opening in 1994, the educational programs have grown from a single acting class for children and adults, to include three separate classes for children, teens, and adults, advanced classes for children and teens, a popular Broadway camp which inspires over 300 youth annually, and a conservatory-style approach to professional training in the art of the musical through The New School.

Cline instructs The New School with Scott Anthony, Resident Music Director for the Broadway Series. This program engages students in an advanced, individual approach in education for acting, music theory and vocal instruction, and movement for the stage.

All Media Music Theatre Company classes

incorporate the Sanford Meisner Technique, with the basic principle being that Acting is living as truthfully as one can under imaginary circumstances. Jesse Cline, Artistic Director, was a student of Meisner's and is a proponent of this Technique.

Linked to these classes is the Media Theatre's Children's Series, offering students an opportunity to put into practice the lessons taught through Acting Classes and the New School. The Children's Series performs family-friendly productions of classic fairy tales, children's novels, and modern fables. Every Children's Series production is a musical, offering a deeper insight and understanding for youth to engage as both audience members and participants in the art of music theatre.

As we celebrate two decades of premier music theatre, significant changes have been made to raise awareness of the memorable work and artistry which

has found a home in this space. Aesthetic improvements have been made to the exterior through a generous contribution from the VT Group, displaying to all passers-by the mission of the Media Music Theatre Company through triumphant memorable images of past productions.

Soon, a renovated website will be introduced, allowing for a better representation of the work on and off the stage.

Most importantly, to achieve the finest representation of the award-winning presentations audiences have enjoyed for 20 years, an official re-branding of the company will be unveiled in 2014. In line with the mission, history, and artistry of this professional theatrical organization known as The Media Music Theatre Company, this new marketing strategy will allow us to to carry on the cultural and economic impact we have acheived for years to come.

Our mission is represented throughout the nation and the world by actors who have entertained on our stage. Our students will carry on this mission in the years to come, when we will proudly celebrate another two decades!
